STS selected to contribute to the 2017 Technology Edition of The Parliamentary Review

The annual Parliamentary Review is supported by the UK government and seen as an indispensable cross-sector industry guide. The various editions, focussing on individual policy areas, aim to raise standards by highlighting best practice. Leading companies are invited to describe their business and how they represent excellence in their chosen fields. We are therefore delighted that STS have been selected as a contributor to this years’ technology edition, which is to be published in Autumn 2017.

The Parliamentary Review, which is edited by former Cabinet Minister The Rt Hon David Curry, provides an essential guide to the main political developments of the last parliamentary year and discusses the key technologies, issues and technological debates that are impacting the United Kingdom, the economy, companies operating in the UK and our citizens.

“Being identified as a payments sector industry leader is both humbling and at the same time a great honour” says Steve Turner, Chief Executive of Smart Technology Solutions (STS) who set up the company 19 years ago. “It is a ringing endorsement of the innovative payments acceptance solutions that we have created for so many leading retail, hospitality, travel and transportation companies based both here in the UK and overseas.”

The organisations featured have been selected to show excellence in their arena, and will act as examples to their fellow peers.

“STS has become known as the company to call upon to solve extremely technically challenging payment acceptance solutions such as the multi merchant multi acquirer system we have recently delivered to the airline industry.” comments Steve.

This highly innovative payments solution allows single hardware to be shared by multiple organisations, as both acquirer and EPOS application settings can be automatically reconfigured for each transaction.

In the Parliamentary Review article Steve Turner shares the decision to make the company “Product Led” a few years back rather than relying on a traditional sales-force. A senior leadership team of passionate, technical people was formed and this has allowed greater payments innovation to be delivered based on customer, partner and market feedback. It has enabled the company to be more responsive to customer needs as shown by the rave reviews when PayOp a next generation payment operational management system was launched this summer.

The 2017 Parliamentary Review, Technology Edition will be sent out to over 35,000 leading policymakers including all MPs, Peers at the House of Lords, Chief Executives, Managing Directors and Chief Technology Officers, Executives at Government Agencies, as well as the technology arm of leading organisations within the Financial Services sector.

The technology edition will include articles from leading politicians and journalists. It is likely to includes coverage of such hot topics as the continued growth of eCommerce, social media, mobile payments, the GIG economy, the strengthening of data security, data privacy, the adoption of cloud technology and greater use of Apps to name but a few.
